Join Faunagraphic as we make our way from the Gold Coast, 900 kilometres west in search of the bird species that call this drier part of Queensland home. Birds are the primary focus of this tour however, if opportunity arises we will also photograph mammal, reptile and amphibian species.

Itinerary

Day 1
Gold Coast to St George
The journey starts in the morning as we depart making our way to St George. We stop at two locations for morning tea and lunch. Any birds or photographic opportunities will be taken into account

Day 2
St George to Cunnamulla

Depart St George AM to make journey to Cunnamulla. May encounter raptor species and begin to see change in species mix. Regular stops for any photographic opportunities. Arrive in Cunnamulla, introduction on species and familiarisation with facilities.

Day 3
Cunnamulla and Surrounds
Investigating waterholes for birds coming in to drink. Tour of local area as we will be stationed here for next 4 days.

Highlights - Spotted Bowerbird, Major Mitchell's Cockatoo, Bourke's Parrot, Bluebonnet

Day 4
Cunnamulla and Surrounds
Searching Mulga country for specialist species.

Highlights - Hall's Babbler, Chestnut-breasted Quail-thrush, Mulga Parrot

Day 5
Cunnamulla and Surrounds

Western and Northern perimeter check including search for small passerines.

Highlights - Red-capped Robin, Hooded Robin, Red-browed Pardalote

Day 6 
Cunnamulla and Surrounds
Revisit sites of interest to finalise any images of species missed or need to improve on

Day 7
Cunnamulla to Goondiwindi
Leave Cunnamulla after morning session and make way to Goondiwindi. Stops along the way for species of interest.

Day 8
Goondiwindi to Gold Coast
Leave Goondiwindi stopping at Coolmunda Dam to locate specialist species. Morning Tea provided. Tour finishes after lunch when we arrive back on the Gold Coast.

OPTIONAL 9th Day

For interstate or international customers we offer a tour extension with a 9th day RAINFOREST / SEQ species tour. 

Targets - Albert's Lyrebird, Green Catbird, Noisy Pitta, Yellow-throated Scrubwren, Paradise Riflebird, Regent Bowerbird, Red-backed Fairywren, Tawny Grassbird, Brahminy Kite etc.
