Iron Range (Cape York)
(8 Nights)
Join Faunagraphic as we depart Cairns and fly into Lockhart River during the wet season to explore one of Australia's best regions for localised endemic wildlife. Flying into Lockhart River during the wet season will give us the best opportunity to see species in areas that cannot be accessed via vehicle at this time of year.
Cape York has a long list of endemic species which we will be targeting during our stay. We hope to encounter a wide variety of fauna, that includes but is not limited to: Green Tree Python, Scrub Python, Canopy Monitor, Saltwater Crocodile, Cape York Graceful Tree Frog, Yellow-billed Kingfisher, Papuan Pitta, Magnificent Riflebird, Palm Cockatoo, Eclectus Parrot, Southern Spotted Cuscus and Southern Common Cuscus!
As we will be spending the week in Iron Range National Park our itinerary will be open and we will take advantage of local sightings and activity. This tour will include wildlife spotting both day and night on each day to maximise sightings.
